West Marin Fund is a community foundation dedicated to enhancing the long-term wellbeing and quality of life for all in West Marin. We inspire giving and mobilize resources by providing grants and training for local nonprofits, and by convening community stakeholders to identify and fund equitable, local solutions. We serve the West Marin region from Muir Beach in the south to Dillon Beach and Tomales in the north.

Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking new board members who are deeply committed to our mission and values. Ideal candidates will bring a range of skills, lived experiences, and perspectives that strengthen our board’s ability to serve the diverse communities of West Marin. We strongly encourage individuals from a range of ages and backgrounds and from all parts of West Marin to apply.

- Contributes perspectives or practical knowledge rooted in our region’s culture, challenges, and opportunities, helping to ensure our board remains responsive and representative.

- Is willing to make West Marin Fund one of their top volunteer and philanthropic commitments.
- Brings unique skills, life experience, and/or professional expertise that complement our current board.
- Brings a spirit of collaboration and respect to all interactions, helping to build trust and deepen engagement across the board, staff, and community.

What We Ask of Board Members
West Marin Fund has a working board composed of actively engaged members who advance our mission through leadership, collaboration, and commitment. We aim to appoint 1–3 new board members over the next 3 to 6 months to bring additional skills and experience, and to expand the board’s geographic, cultural, demographic diversity.
What We Will Ask of You
Our board members inform and advance our mission and strategy and are highly collaborative. They are expected to:
- Represent West Marin Fund and serve as an ambassador in building community relationships.
- Attend five board meetings annually, including one full-day retreat. Meetings are held on weekdays, some in person and some online.
- Serve on one or more committees or task forces (Committees meet 4-12 times per year, depending on the committee. Task forces are convened for a limited focus and time as needed.)
- Prepare for meetings by reviewing materials, staying informed on board matters, and understanding financial reports.
- Commit to a 3-year term, with the possibility of reappointment for up to two additional terms.
- Take on leadership roles (e.g., committee chair, officer) as appropriate.
- Participate in fundraising efforts through personal giving, leveraging networks and attending donor events when possible.
This is a rolling application process, anticipated to continue for several months. The Search Committee will be meeting monthly to review incoming applications. We appreciate your patience with potential waiting periods.
