- Consolidate the West Marin Collaborative.
- Pilot two grantmaking rounds to support collaborative efforts to reduce service gaps for disadvantaged populations.
- Provide technical assistance to implementing partners to boost project success.
- Assess results of the pilot project to inform grant renewals and a potential next phase of the project.
- Bring additional resources to address service gaps in West Marin.
Specific Objectives
Grant Range
$100,000 to $200,000 over 2 years ($50k-$100k/year)
Who Can Apply?
- Collaboratives composed of at least two organizations, of which:
- At least one must be based in West Marin, ideally for the last three years.
- All organizations must become regular participants of West Marin Collaborative.
- All organizations must have a commitment to racial justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- The lead organization must be a registered 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) or have a fiscal sponsor.
- The lead organization preferably has an annual budget of at least $250,000 in the previous fiscal year.
- Only one application may be submitted by each collaborative.
- Organizations may participate in more than one collaborative, but can only be the Lead for one proposal.
Successful Proposals
- Clearly identify a gap in services to disadvantaged populations in West Marin.
- Present the best available data to assess the extent of the service gap.
- Explain how this differential in services is affecting the target population.
- Clearly explain how the activities will reduce the gap in services and benefit the target population.
- Identify progress indicators and data collection mechanisms.
- Demonstrate experience providing the type of services included in the proposed project.
- Demonstrate experience working together prior to the proposal.
- Set specific goals to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in their proposed project.
- Identify ways to continue the collaborative effort after the grant ends.
Application & Selection Process
- February – Develop Letters of Intent to submit by February 28. Technical assistance is available to develop Letter of Intents by sending an email to grants@westmarinfund.org
- March – Letters of Intent reviewed by Grants Review Committee. Some will be invited to develop Full Proposals.
- April – Develop Full Proposals to submit by April 30 (with technical assistance if desired)
- May – Review of Full Proposals by Grants Review Committee.
- June – Grant recommendations are presented to West Marin Fund Board for approval and awarded by the end of June.
