Happy New Year! As we head into the Year of the Horse, we’re excited to share important updates, new leadership appointments, and opportunities that strengthen our community and the work of the Fund.

Appointments

We are in a moment of transformation and opportunity at the Fund. Following the transition of former Executive Director Sarah Hobson, we would like to share two new leadership appointments:

Suzanne Tan

Interim Executive Director

Suzanne brings over 25 years of experience in the non-profit sector, twice as an executive director, with a focus on museums and arts organizations. She has experience across the region as an interim executive as well as nationally as an executive search consultant.

Suzanne looks forward to collaborating with the staff and board to strengthen communications and strategy, and to help welcome a new leader later this year. Suzanne can be reached at suzanne@westmarinfund.org

Ashley Malyszka

Development and Engagement Manager

Ashley has more than 12 years of experience in nonprofit development and partnership building, primarily in the environmental and clean energy fields. In her new role, she will build relationships and resources that support the Fund’s work and enhance the organization’s visibility and communications strategy.

Ashley’s commitment to community resilience is rooted in growing up in a small rural town in Southern California, where she learned the value of neighbors helping neighbors from her mom, a former volunteer firefighter. She deeply values this region and looks forward to learning more about and supporting West Marin’s culture and community priorities in her role. Ashley can be reached at ashley@westmarinfund.org

West Marin Fund’s 2nd Annual Grantee Convening

Thank you to our 2025 grantee partners, advisors, and grant review committee members that joined us for West Marin Fund’s 2nd annual grantee convening at the Dance Palace on December 12, 2025. Organized by our programs team with facilitation support from Alex Dorsey and Julie Solomon, the day was full of illuminating insights and reflections as our partners connected around the many pressing issues facing our community.

During the convening, we reviewed data from our nonprofit survey, which highlighted both the resilience and evolving needs of nonprofits serving West Marin. Attendees brainstormed ideas on how to further collaborate for the collective benefit of West Marin and its residents.

Despite staffing limitations, financial pressures, and leadership transitions, organizations continue to adapt and lead through change. Overall, the sector remains committed, creative, and deeply dedicated to serving the community.

Watch for the release in March of the Status of the Nonprofit Sector in West Marin and an invitation to a follow-up online meeting to discuss the findings, deepen organizational connections, and leverage our combined efforts.

New Resource: West Marin Jobs Hub

We are thrilled to introduce the West Marin Jobs Hub, a new virtual platform designed to connect West Marin residents with local job opportunities and help employers reach qualified candidates close to home. Employers are invited to share any open positions through a simple form that career advisors serving West Marin can access and connect job seekers directly with opportunities.

Please post your job opportunities here and help us build this shared resource. Sharing job postings helps keep residents employed locally, supports businesses, and strengthens our community.

The West Marin Jobs Hub is being developed through a collaboration between the County of Marin, the Workforce Alliance of the North Bay, and West Marin Fund. If you have questions or suggestions, please contact us at programs@westmarinfund.org.

Big Thanks to Our Community

As we head into a new year, we’re mindful that none of the work we do would be possible without the generosity of West Marin Fund’s donors and supporters. Your contributions have helped transform the Fund into the vital community resource that we are today. Your investment fuels our work and ensures that the nonprofits serving our region remain strong, adaptive, and responsive to community needs.

As we move through a time of transition, we want you to know how deeply grateful we are for your continued support and engagement in the well-being of our region. We look forward to sharing more of our work and progress in the coming months.
