There is something enduring about this region. Not only in the landscape, but in the ways we take care of each other through times of change and challenge.

This year has tested that endurance in new ways. As ranching operations that have defined our region for generations come to an end, as families face displacement, as our rural communities navigate an increasingly troubled and complex world, we’ve witnessed both profound loss and remarkable resilience. The character of our landscape may be shifting, but the heart of West Marin — our people, our commitment to one another, our deep sense of place — endures.

West Marin Fund, our coastal community foundation, excels in moments like this. When the familiar structures change, when uncertainty clouds the horizon, when our communities face challenges too large to tackle alone, we step into the space between. We hold together what might otherwise fragment. We ensure that as West Marin evolves, it does so without losing the qualities that make this place irreplaceable.

Over the past year, your support has enabled us to respond swiftly to displacement crises, strengthen the nonprofits serving our most impacted neighbors, bring more resources to the region, and facilitate new partnerships between our communities. We’ve seen how quickly we can mobilize when we work together, how much we can accomplish when we refuse to let anyone face hardship alone.

This year-end, we’re asking you to invest in what endures. Not just the programs we fund and the support we coordinate, but the vision of West Marin as a place where community is the core of who we are — where the threads that bind us together are stronger than the forces that pull us apart.

The future of West Marin may look different than its past. But with your partnership, it will remain a place where people look out for one another, where diverse communities thrive, and where the values of stewardship, equity, and collaboration guide us forward.
